We had the honor of executing the complete art curation for the four-storied Bharat Ratna Lata Mangeshkar Auditorium at Mira Bhayander, India, a space thoughtfully themed around the legendary singer’s life and legacy. The project brought together diverse disciplines and mediums to create a vibrant cultural narrative.
At the main entrance, a monumental Scrap Metal Mural measuring 20’ x 26’ sets the tone, while story walls celebrate her journey through portraits, collages of vintage LP covers, and Bollywood poster montages. A striking 10’ x 20’ Metal Mural on musical notations is paired with a violin-shaped wooden chair, symbolizing harmony. Other highlights include “Mask & Truth”, carnival masks adorned with hand-painted fabrics, laces, and embroidery, paired with evocative quotes; a dynamic Waves Abstract Metal Mural; and Walk with a Radio, a cassette-themed mural enlivening the café. Installations of vintage cameras and Bollywood reels pay homage to timeless artistry, while sculptural compositions such as “Musicians”, a piano keyboard bench, and tributes like “Dust to Life” and Omar Khayyam enrich the gallery.
The auditorium was inaugurated by Honorable Chief Minister of Maharashtra, Shri Eknath Shinde. With heartfelt gratitude, we acknowledge the Hafeez Contractor team for their trust, vision, and seamless collaboration.
