Description
Living in a cramped city means even Gods have to adjust to the lack of space. This little temple below a beautiful old Banyan tree has stood here for ages. It gets a fresh coat of paint every time there is a local election. Shops and homes jostle for space next door. Right  opposite is a lovely old Jamaat-khana, and a few metres away, a large mosque. Nothing disturbs the harmony of these places of worship each one calls out to its worshippers in its own way. Every morning, a little tea vendor sets up his portable gas behind the pillar and those who know gather around for a quick cup before the day begins. Sometimes the women from next door sit around for a quiet chat. Evenings bring a chaatwala near the temple entrance, and rainy days call for a special Gulab Jamun cart parked here. So many stories, so many structures and so many busy lives unravel around us every day.
